To students delight, research has frequently indicated that not all homework is good homework and further to this, it often has minimal impact on student learning. However, studies have shown that it is the type of homework that is most important!

For example repeating the skills learned in Maths by answering similar questions from the classwork is beneficial homework. Learning a new topic in Maths at home not covered in class is not beneficial homework. We have a particular homework focus on Maths and English in Year 7/8. In Year 9/10, homework will include Maths, English and assignments from our other subjects. Research also indicates that the fluency and rate of reading highly correlates with improved academic results. Please expect regular reading to be a part of homework through our Accelerated Reading program. Teachers will discuss with their classes when homework is to be set and completed by.
